8 Days Hiking Tour Santo Antao

Dominguinhas is a tiny village isolated in the midst of the valley of Alto Mira, accessible by a colonial trail, a place where locals live from farming, and small scale business.

This trail will take you all the way down to the sea sore and then continue through the coast with the Atlantic Ocean view, and is also normal to spot Turtles floating at the sea.

After hiking some plateaus you go all the way up to Meio De Espanha, the most isolated village in Santo Antão.

This circuit starts at the beautiful oasis of Cha De Morte going down the awesome canyon and than to rise up to highest pick with mountains elevating to the sky,

” Dykes” .

Forquinha is the summit that divide  Alto MIra and Cha De Morte and still abling you to see both  from above.

The natural side of Cha De Morte has an arid climate and filled with volcano ashes while the other side Alto Mira is much humid with deep lash valley and terraces of various crops, water stream that allow the irrigation system all year round.

 A Ziguezague kind of trail made in the colonial era at the edges of various mountain that connect many different villages, starting from Ponta Do Sol to Fontainhas,Corvo, Formiguinhas, Aranhas, and at the end Cruzinha a fishing villages and conscious people who have being recognised by their effort to protect Turtles that nest every year at those small sandy beach.

This is one of the most impressive coastal hikes on Santo Antão that will constantly keep you wondering what's coming next. Its a full time adventure.

Challenging

This is a trail situated in the Ribeira Da Torre Valley, one of the greenest valleys in cape verde with an all year around cascade of water that has a natural pool beneath worth refreshing in while hiking this path. 

A hike in between different crops like, banana, sugar cane, bread fruits that you can get to taste while here.

You will do this hike only after crossing wonderful nature either the desert side of Porto Novo that clings all the way up to the forest on top of the mountain by Cova crater or the huge mountains of Ribeira Grande where the first road was made to connect Porto Novo. 

Thus either side will take you to an adventure to the starting point Espongeiro, a little village where people live from shepherding  to create cheese and farming.

As you hike down the landscape reveals it with colorfull mountains and valleys with water stream where locals produce their crops like sugar cane, orange, papaya, bread fruits …

Paul is the greenest valley in Cape Verde and is a place where water streams and bird hammering are what you hear all day.

A place where the local people have worked to sculpt the valley with terraces where they do farming and they have it all from coffee, guava, Mangoes, papaya,Yhams,breadfruits, orange, it really is an exotic nature paradise.

Boca de Ambas Ribeiras means  “mouth of both rivers” as it is a joint point of the valley of Caibros and Lombo de Santa. 

This hike starts at the bottom of the river to the top of the mountain, where you can picture different sides of the landscape at once, one enclosed by a mountain filled with different vegetation and another of nature completely different with a deep canyon, a huge plateau where Chã de Igreja is situated, and  blue view of the Atlantic ocean.
